It has been quite sometime since we met in the last post and again welcome to all readers and followers to this humble blog.I`ve been up and running for the past week and thought that you might want to home in to this local and historical spot right in the capital city of Kuala Lumpur.The Kasturi Walk is a  brand new shopping sidewalk and is among the 105 attractions in the city which was officially opened to the public on the 19th of Feb 2011.The 112 meter stretch is located just outside of the historical handicraft center of  the Central Market which is already a tourism spot for those wanting to shop for traditional Malaysian crafts.With this new and comfortable sidewalk and a major facelift done to its main building of the Central Market,shoppers will definitely be satisfied for what they bargain for.

The Kasturi walk displays a theme entrance 9 meter high traditional kite that could be seen in a distance.The metal kite or "wau",as its called locally,signifies the Malay tradition and culture originating from the east coast of the country.There are over 50 wooden kiosks with coconut leaves spreading on its roof to enhance the feelings of being in a village as you walk along the stretch.Good quality and highly crafted products are displayed on each kiosks for shoppers to bargain.Souvenirs items are a plenty at the walk and what makes it a place to visit is,lookout for several kiosks selling traditional Malaysian mouth watering sweeties,traditional food and drinks like the rojak and cendul.There are food kiosks where you can just sit and enjoy the food while admiring the colorful and well preserved pre-war buildings also along the stretch.

Ofcourse,if you would rather shop in an airconditioning atmosphere,just step into the main building of the Central Market.More crafts can be seen there and food outlets are plenty as well.Inside,more unique coupled with woven artistry crafts are displayed.With the new interior facelift done to the building,its cozy shopping all the way.Look for traditional souvenirs,they are cheap and of high quality.I`m sure you`ll find one that you are looking for.Central Market was a wet market in the late 1800 and was refurbished several times right till now.In the 60s,70s and early 80s,this former wet market is the most popular market among families in Kuala Lumpur.

272 Steps And A Japanese Girl..

Hello friends and followers to this humble blog.It has been quite sometime since i`ve posted something new and as the title above suggests,lets get down to business.Recently,i managed to visit one of the 105 tourism spots in Kuala Lumpur and this fantastic spot is none other than the Stone Caves or Batu Caves as we called it locally.All i asks is for you to keep on reading right till the end and find out what happened along my journey and quest to this historical cave site.Do take a look at several video clips and photos as well.

It all started on a Saturday morning.My excitement and adrenalin rush seems to urge me for a speedy arrival at the caves as i entered the highway.As i got closer,i could see the green surroundings of the limestone hills along the caves which is located on the North part of the capital city.Finally i got there and not to my surprise at all,there were rows and rows of tourist coaches packed with eager tourists wanting to explore the caves.Within minutes,i was greeted by a couple of friends who apparently got there earlier.We strolled the compound of the caves and manage to gather some facts about this magnificent spot that makes up among the 105 tourist attractions in Kuala Lumpur.

Rising almost 100m above the ground, Batu Caves actually consists of three main caves and a few smaller ones. The biggest, referred to as the Temple Cave, has a 100m-high ceiling, and features ornate Hindu shrines. To reach it, visitors have to climb a steep flight of 272 steps.

Below the Temple Cave is the Dark Cave, with its amazing rock formations and  a number of animals found nowhere else. Stalactites jutting from the cave's ceiling and stalagmites rising from the floor form intricate formations such as cave curtains, flow stones, cave pearls and scallops which took thousands of years to form. The Malaysian Nature Society organises regular educational and adventure trips to theDark Caves.

The other main cave is the Art Gallery Cave located at the foot of the steps. Statues and wall paintings depicting Hindu deities and mythology are displayed here. The walk to the entrance is itself quite a pleasant experience through a lake and ponds filled with hundreds of colourful fish.

Yes,i know guys..what happened to the Japanese girl ? Well,soon after being at the foot,i was ready to climb 272 steps up to the Temple Cave and i found 4 Japanese tourists and we introduced ourselves.All 4 girls seems excited and they look very very fit for the climb.One of them was extremely friendly and started asking me lots of questions on the caves.We were communicating in 3 different languages.Japanese,English and of course,Sign language.In just a couple of minutes,we were ready to climb and one of them said,"see you at the top".They climbed slowly in the beginning and that gave me the opportunity to just passed them with ease.Quarter way up.i was panting and struggling for air,haha.All the Japanese girls caught up with me and giggled away as they overtook me,with a strong pace.I composed myself hurriedly and was behind one of them in a short while.A few steps ahead and guess what happened ?

The girl who said,see you at the top suddenly got herself on the wrong footing and leaned backwards towards me.I got no choice but to cushioned her backwards slip with my shoulder,left arm and chest.I just couldnt pushed her back up to balance her body as my right hand is holding a video camera.My left hand was free but,i just did not have the power to push her up as her weight was too much.She would have taken me down as well if i had done so with just one hand.3 of her friends were laughing as they pulled her up and out of my bear hug on her.Hehe..that was nice although her sweat did trickle on my shirt and face.Too bad my video camera was off guys.But you can spot her in one of the video clips.

Finally its time to walk down the steps and we practically spend about 2 hours in the cave.As for the Japanese girls,we bid farewell and promised to be intouch and hopefully to meet again.All and all,it was a fun and exciting experience for all of us.Thanks for reading and i hope you enjoyed it.Take care and see you soon in the next posts..

Hello friends and followers to this humble blog.Kuala Lumpur being the capital of Malaysia,certainly have its attractions for everyone.As a local,i grew up in and around the surroundings of this pretty 46 hectare lake called,Titiwangsa lake and park.Now,it has changed tremendously and is considered as one of the city`s 105 attractions.A call came through and my friends and me, just decided to get some sweat out.I must say,where else.....Its a green spot in the city and its just fresh and clean.I started with a slow jog just to enjoy the breeze blowing in my face.Being a weekend in the evening,many people seems to be there much earlier.As i occasionally stopped for a photo shoot,i just couldnt help noticing the food stalls strategically located along the lake and its in the open, but shady.`The lake is packed with families living in and around the city in the weekends`, says the foodstall owner as i sat down for a coconut drink after about half an hour of light strolling along the lake and park with a couple of friends who had jogged much further.As i wanted to see the sunset,i patiently waited while sipping away my coconut drink.

Getting to the park is a breeze.Its located along Jalan Tun Razak and to be more precise,its Jalan Kuantan off Jalan Tun Razak.Still dazed,look for the Kuala Lumpur Hospital,its just on the opposite side.Visitors both local and foreign can always get in touch with me and i`ll take you there,no problem.Another fact about the lake and park is,the Petronas Twin Towers can bee seen clearly in a distance and this makes it very scenic for amateur and professional photographers an ideal spot to display their skills.The National Culture building or,Istana Budaya we called it, is another great architecture for a great photo shoot.

As soon as i`m done with my coconut drink,i jog much further and found a horse stable where its part of the recreation activities at the lake.Horse riding and horse buggies are available for rides at a very minimal fare.Just a short distance away is the radio control car racing track and for your information,its always full in the weekends.If you`re into tennis,there`s several courts available.You have to book in advance of course.

For children,the park comes with 3 playgrounds as well.If you`re a seafood lover,there`s a seafood restaurant too.For those who fancy eating out in the open with a beautiful view to wonder,plenty of stalls for you to choose from.Just sit and you`ll be attended to.You can get almost anything that comes to mind to satisfy your taste buds.Lastly,i would have walked quite a distance and finally called it a day.

Hi there..In this Part 2 of Old Buildings Of Kuala Lumpur,i roamed further in the streets to shoot more photos along Malaysia`s popular Chinatown.When i finally got there,i would have shot more than fifty old architectural buildings that surrounds this all time shopping haven among Malaysians and tourists,right in the heart of the city.Please view at some of the photos posted in this blog.One is highly recommended to walk along this street when visiting Kuala Lumpur as more and more pre-war architectures can be spotted.Some of them are just so wonderful to look at as they are still in good condition with its premises turned into restaurants,shops and even banks.What i like most,is the petty traders along the five foot way lined up the old structures as i walked.You can hear voices from the petty traders telling their products out loud to whoever passes the five foot way.

One should not worry as there are plenty of food stalls along the streets and they are quite cheap too.What i noticed is,there are lots of noodle food stalls and you can see in action how your order is being prepared.It seems,they are really a professional when preparing the noodles.One can even,catch several meat balls thrown high up in the air with just a small glass bowl using one hand.Not to worry,if you really want to see him in action,i`ll be back to his stall to video shoot.
